Breakfast with Joaquin Phoenix? Yes, please!

“We are not a society who believes it’s right to abuse animals” says Joaquin Phoenix in a new video. Wow, could this guy possibly get any more pefect? The Oscar-winning actor is a longtime animal rights activist – and now he encourages animal lovers to go vegan by inviting you into his own kitchen as part of a campaign with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA): “Change the World From Your Kitchen. Go Vegan.”

Activism is happening everywhere from the catwalk to the fashion magazines and people’s private social media.  British VOGUE have been leading the way with several historic covers this summer. In July they dedicated the cover to the healthworkers celebrating them as “the new front line” heroically fighting the virus, And now their September issue portrays 20 of the worlds most heroic activists in honour of Black Lives Matter-protest following the killing of George Floyd. Racism is a global issue as editor Edward Enninful writes. The September issue is well known as THE years most important fashion issue – and this year glossy bible have chosen to send a message: “Activism now!”.

“It’s easy to escape personal responsibility by actively avoiding the truth. But I hope you will join me in rejecting animal cruelty,” says Phoenix. We could not agree more.
