«The Birds of Paradise» is lebanese designer Ziad Nakad‘s collection for spring-summer 2021, shown recently at Paris Couture Week.

The collection is perfect both for the award season – and for a wedding if you want to go all out. Designed in airy, transparent chiffons, silk and lace embellished with ostrich feathers and sequins the all over impression is opulent, sexy and slightly frivolous – like it was stolen from the boudoir of a lagendary courtesan. All the pieces are entirely embroidred by hand in the designer’s studio – according to Nakad the wedding gown required 3 months of work to be finished. As we know – haute couture is about selling fantasy and dreams, not clothes – and it is easy to dream watching this exqusite collection modelled at the Château de Vaux-Le-Vicomte. The richness of the interior matches the gowns and really sets the mood.
