♥ Navn: Marion Skaug Nævestad ♥ Yrke: Grafisk designer, klessamler og modell

Marion Massacre, som egentlig heter Marion Skaug Nævestad har alltid har vært fascinert av undergrunnskulturer. Da hun var 16 var hun mer skinheadjente med pannelugg, korte skjørt, nettingstrømper og boots og gikk på punkkonserter. Men så er hun vokst opp med bilkultur, foreldrene har alltid hatt gamle Volvoer og amerikanere, og de tok henne med på biltreff gjennom hele oppveksten. Da hun ble 17 møtte hun rockabillyfolk på Caven og Teddys i Oslo.

«De hadde en musikksmak og en klessmak som jeg syntes var fascinerende så jeg begynte å kle meg mer rockabilly – eller pinupstil som folk kaller det nå. Men jeg tror det første tiåret jeg forelsket meg i var 40-tallet» sier Marion til Styletalk.

Vi grep sjansen og stilte henne 21 stil-spørsmål:

ST: Hvem er ditt stilikon?
Marion: Jeg er fascinert av gamle Hollywood-stjerner som Marilyn Monroe, Hedy Lamarr og Marlene Dietrich, sekstitallsikoner som Brigitte Bardot og Sharon Tate, new wave ikonet Debbie harry og selvfølgelig Dita Von Teese. Og så er det ei jente på insta som kaller seg Vintage Vandal som er utrolig kul, blander mange stiler og tiår sammen. Det liker jeg. Jeg føler meg like komfortabel i en fin bukse som en fin kjole. Jeg vil ikke være låst i en stil eller ett tiår, men liker å ha frihet til å velge og blande.

ST: Hva går du i på jobben?
Marion: En dag kan det være en fin, pyntet kjole, neste dag caps og jeans. Folk blir litt forvirret.

ST: Hvor shopper du?
Marion: På internett, for eksempel masse små butikker på Etsy og secondhandbutikker som Dianas salonger og Ohlala på Facebook. Og Butch Wax Vintage – en butikk som er kun instagrambasert og som legger ut nye kjoler hver dag. Ellers alt fra Manillusion på Grünerløkka til H&M og Lindex – vet hva jeg vil ha og finner alltid ting jeg kan sette sammen og gjøre til min egen stil.

ST: Hvor ofte shopper du?
Marion: Jeg «vindusshopper» mye, spesielt på nettet. Det er vel budsjettet som begrenser meg.

ST: Beste kupp?
Marion: Akkurat nå er det en 70-tallsskinnjakke fra East West Musical Instruments Company som jeg kjøpte fra @butchwaxvintage Jeg tror jeg er litt forelska faktisk.

ST: Hvordan vil du karakterisere garderoben din?
Marion: En god miks av vintage og nytt.

ST: Hvem har du på deg i dag?
Marion: En kjole fra Marilyn Feltz, et fransk merke som jeg elsker.

ST: Favorittfotograf?
Marion: Shannon Brooke er fantastisk. Jeg har jobbet med henne flere ganger i L.A og det er som å møte en god venninne. Og så Lars Kommienezuspadt, utrolig dyktig med lys.

ST: Drømmelocation?
Marion: Et elegant gammelt hus med stilige møbler og lekker arkitektur.

ST: Styler du håret selv på fotoshoots?
Marion: Noen ganger. I USA har jeg booket stylist, det blir 1000 ganger bedre. His Vintage Touch gjorde håret på en av shootsene med Susana Vestige og jeg ble startstruck bare av å møte han. Han har blant annet  jobbet med Dita, og er mer hårskulptør.

ST: Kuleste du har opplevd som modell?
Marion: Jeg har fått bildene mine publisert i både Shannons siste bok og Lars sin bok. Utrolig hyggelig og rart å bli plukka ut til fotografenes egne bøker. Spesielt når man ser hvor mye bra bilder de tar, og de tenker du har gjort en god nok jobb til at de vil vise frem jobben man har gjort sammen.

ST: Har du bilder av deg selv på veggen?
Marion: Jeg har ett som henger i kjelleren. Eva Rose hadde en pinupustilling for noen år siden, og spurte om jeg ville være en del av den.  Etter utstillingen spurte hun om jeg ville ha bildet, og det takket jeg ja til. Det var egentlig dette som gjorde at jeg turte stå foran kamera første gang.

ST: Er mannen din like stylet som du?
Marion: Nei, han er en klassisk T-skjorte og jeans- fyr. Jeg er ofte veldig mye mer pyntet enn han.

ST: Hva kan du ikke leve uten?
Marion: Sminke. I fjor hadde jeg en svakhet for hatter, året før var det mer belter jeg hadde dilla på.

ST: Hvilke plagg kommer vi aldri til å se deg i?
Marion: Tettsittende halsbånd, sånne strechy fra nittitallet. Store, stygge joggesko. Buffalosko. Jeg hatet dem første gang de var populære og hater dem nå. Og joggebukser med knapping i siden. Men garantert mer;)

ST: Favoritt i comfy-sko?
Marion: Converse.

ST: Jeans eller skjørt for en dag?
Marion: Jeans.

ST: Favorittfilm?
Marion: «Twin Peaks». Selvom det ikke er en film.

ST: Favorittcocktail?
Marion: Jeg liker drinker med ingefær i. Moscow Mule, kanskje.

ST: Vi må snakke tatoveringer. Hvor lenge har du holdt på og hvem er din tattoo-artist?
Marion: Noen har jeg tatt hos Lucky 7, andre hos Blue Arms Tattoo. Og så Marius Meyer, han er kjempeflink. Fuglene på brystet var de første, de tok jeg da jeg var 20. Ventet to år før jeg tok neste, men etter det har det gått slag-i-slag. Tatoveringene får meg til å føle meg pyntet hele tiden. Det gjør alltid dritvondt, men jeg har ikke angret.

ST: Noen steder du ikke vil tatovere?
Marion: Magen. Ansiktet og halsen.

Marion Massacre whose real name is Marion Skaug Nævestad, has always been attracted to subcultures. At 16 she was more of a skinhead who frequented punk concerts sporting bangs, miniskirts, fishnets and boots. She grew up in a hotrod culture with parents who collected vintage cars and brought their daughter with them to car shows all through her childhood and early teens. At 17 she discovered rockabilly at Caven and Teddy’s – both legendary rockabilly hangouts in Oslo.

«Their taste in music and clothes fascinated me, so I started dressing more rockabilly – or pinup style, as people call it now. But the first decade II really fell for hard is the 1940s» Marion tells Styletalk.

We seized the moment – and asked her 21 style questions:

ST: Who’s your style icon?
Marion: Old Hollywood legends like Marilyn Monroe, Hedy Lamarr and Marlene Dietrich, sixties stars like Brigitte Bardot and Sharon Tata, new wave icon Debbie Harry  and of course Dita von Teese. Plus, a girl I found on Instagram called Vintage Vandal whose style is the ultimate of cool as she mixes styles from several decades. I love that. I feel just as comfy in a nice pair of trousers as in a stylish dress and prefer to be free to mix and match and make the look my own.

ST: What do you wear for work?
Marion: One day it may be a glamorous dress, the next – jeans and a cap. It confuses people.

ST: Where do you shop?
Marion: On the net, small shops like Etsy and secondhand shops like Diana’s Salonger and Ohlala on Facebook. I also love the instashop Butch Wax Vintage, who post pics of new dresses every day. Other than that, I love browsing anywhere, from Manillusion in Oslo to H&M and Lindex. I know exactly what I want and always finds items to mix and match and make my own.

ST: How often do you shop?
Marion: I window-shop a lot, especially online. It’s only my budget that limits me.

ST: Best shopping scoop ever?
Marion: Right now, it’s a 1970s vintage leather jacket from East West Musical Instruments Company that I was so lucky to find at @butchwaxvintage. I am infatuated!

ST: How would you describe your wardrobe?
Marion: A good mix of vintage and new.

ST: Who are you wearing today?
Marion: Marilyn Feltz – one of their dresses. I love that French label.

ST: Favorite photographer?
Marion: Shannon Brooke is awesome. I have worked with her several times in L.A and it’s like meeting an old friend now. But I also love Lars Kommienezuspadt who does amazing lights.

ST: Dream location?
Marion: An elegant mansion with exquisite furniture and architecture.

ST: Do you do your own hair on shoots?
Marion: Sometimes. In USA I normally book a stylist, it’s always better. His Vintage Touch did my hair on one of my shoots with Susana Vestige and wow, I was instantly starstruck. He’s worked with people like Dita and is more of a hair artist or sculptor than a regular stylist.

ST: Coolest model experience?
Marion: I had my photos published in both Shannon’s last book and Lars’s book. It feels surreal to have your photos picked for the photographers’ own books, especially when you know how good they are. It feels amazing to think I did a good enough job for them to be proud of our collaborations.

ST: Have you got any of your photos on your own wall?
Marion:  I have one in the basement. Eva Rose did a gallery pinup-show some years ago and asked if I wanted to be part of it as a model. After the show she asked if I wanted my photo and of course I said yes. It was that shoot that gave me the courage to start modelling.

ST: Is your husband as styled as you?
Marion: Nope. He is a classic T-shirts and jeans-type guy. I am often way more styled than him.

ST: What can’t you live without?
Marion: Makeup. Last year I was kind of hooked on hats and the year before that, belts.

ST: What would you never wear?
Marion: Stretchy necklaces and big chunky Buffalo shoes from the nineties. I hated those shoes the first time around, and I hate them now. I would probably never wear trackpants that buttons down the side either. And – there’s guaranteed more.

ST: Fave comfy shoes?
Marion: Converse.

ST: Jeans or skirt?
Marion: Jeans.

ST: Fave movie?
Marion: «Twin Peaks» – although it’s not a movie.

ST: Fave cocktail?
Marion: I love drinks with ginger. Moscow Mule is good.

ST: We must talk ink. How long have you been getting tats and who’s your fave artist?
Marion: Some I did at Lucky 7, others at Blue Arms tattoo in Oslo. Marius Meyer is also one of my favorite artists. The birds on my chest were my first ink, I had them done when I was 20. After two years I started having more and since then it’s been an ongoing project. Tattoos makes me feel like I am always styled. They are a pain to do but I have never ever regretted having any of them done.

ST: Any part of you that you would never tattoo?
Marion: My belly, face and neck.
